Yes, yes. The poet in me is still around; she just haunts my closet insead of my blog.

BUT the other night as I was falling a asleep, I heard her sputtering off some utterly random nonsense. She is fighting me as I attempt at posting it, swearing up and down that it isn't finished and unsuitable for the public.

Honestly? How many people actually read this? It's hardly public.

Wildberry Angel Cake Test #1

Welcome back, Madness Kitchen fans!

Today our Chef Kari decided to try a wildberry angel food cake; a beautiful angel food cake with a light wildberry flavor she acheives by using a wildberry tea. After a good hour of work, the batter was finally the perfect fluffines and it tasted exactly as she had planned....

BUT ALAS!
...She used a heart shaped pan and it broke as she was trying to get it out. She has decided she needs a new pan.

"This is not a sucess," says she, "until it is perfect when I serve it. Besides, it probably could've been more flavorful."

Stay tuned and maybe next week she'll get it right and share the recipe.

Tea, Me, and Emilie!

Hello my darlings!

From the Rosebush of Creativity, I bring you a yummy treat I stumbled upon by accident today.

I wanted to find a tea (that wasn't green or black!) that would pair nicely with milk and sugar (I'm not sure why). Whilst browsing the Celestial Seasonings homepage, I stumbled across one I already had in my house that I didn't particularly care for: Bengal Spice. Sure, it smelled yummy enough, but with out anything in it, it was rather too much to handle.

On the page for said tea, there is actually the suggestion to put milk and sugar in it. I tried it. Lo and behold; I have a new tea. A few sipps later, I got to thinking something was still missing. Here is my solution:

Almond Spice Tea

Celestial Seasoning's Bengal Spice tea
Almond bark (to tatse. I used about a teaspoon of melted)
Milk
sugar

Bring your tea water to a nice, hot boil. Pour it over the tea bag and let it steep.

Find yourself a smallish pot and put your bark in the bottom. Pour about 1/4 cup of milk over it and turn the heat to low. You do not want your milk boiling. Stir constantly until the bark melts completely and add the sugar, again stirring until dissolved. Pour as much as you wish into your tea and enjoy!

My favorite will always, of course, be peppermint but, this is a nice tea for parties!

Let's Make a Parasol!

Hello! I'm back from the tormentuous time without a computer... Forgive me, I could not tell you all that my other one had died.

Anyway, I'm back and I have a little treat! We're going to make a parasol.

You'll need:
An umbrella of your choice
Lace, about 4 or 5 yards, depending on your umbrella size
thread
hand-sewing needle
sewing pins

All the parasol tutorials I've seen involve taking the umbrella apart, making a pattern from the peices and then sewing it back together. I figured this would be easier....

Choose an umbrella with a pattern you like or a solid color or whatever. If you want, you can buy white ones you can decorate on Oriental Trading Company. Open your umbrella and pin the lace or ribbon around the edges like you want it. Thread your needle and stitch the lace on the very edge with small, tight stitches. Go around the umbrella once and viola! One inexpensive, pretty parasol.

Yes, I know. I cheated. But it still looks nice!

Hello!

So, people who had been following this when it was all my writing, I have decided to re-appropriate this blog to something more about me in general. Me and my fetishes will now run rampant like a cyber-wildfire! Look out blogger! Here comes Lolita dresses, strange comments, weird pictures and impossible schemes.

And as my first act, I have to say that the first dress I have sewn all by myself will be done soon. ^^ I just need to get the lace for it and a few other things.
